Gutter cleaning: what a good visit looks like

Any gutter company should be able to tell you, before the visit, what they will remove, what they will flush and how they handle a tall roofline. Here is how we describe ours.

What a complete visit includes

A proper clean-out is more than scooping the top layer. When we come out to a Windermere house, the visit is built around the following, and it is a fair checklist to hold any gutter company to:

  • Removing packed leaves, pollen paste and shingle grit from every run, including the corners where debris settles first.
  • Clearing each downspout outlet so water has somewhere to go.
  • Flushing the system with water to see whether it drains, and telling you what we found.
  • Bagging or hauling the debris rather than dropping it on beds and lawn.

We confirm the scope with you by phone first, so a short written or texted description of the house is worth having before the day arrives.

Questions worth asking before you book

A few plain questions separate a careful visit from a quick pass, and they are worth asking any gutter company, including us. Does the price cover the whole house or only the reachable sections? What happens if a downspout is blocked deeper down? Will they tell you about loose hangers, sagging runs or soft fascia they notice? And how do they handle a tall ladder job?

Our work is cleaning only. We do not do roof repair, roofing, or gutter installation and replacement, so if we spot something that needs another trade, we will say so. The FAQ covers the licensing question for gutter work in Florida in more detail.

Why Windermere homes can take more time

Windermere has a tree ordinance and a Tree Protection Guide, so large trees are regulated and the debris they drop is part of owning a home here. Oaks shed heavily in spring and laurel oaks drop leaves in the cooler months, which is why many homeowners book once before the rains and once again after leaf drop.

Bigger rooflines also mean more gutter to cover and, on taller homes, more ladder work. Mention the number of stories and any steep or complex sections when you request a quote so our estimate fits the house. For the seasonal detail, see the Windermere gutter guide.
